Rapid Brain Development in Early Childhood
Researchers now understand how rapidly brains develop before age 5, establishing the architecture for future learning. Early childhood experiences are built into our bodies and they impact learning, behavior, and physical and mental health. Babies’ brains require stable, caring, interactive relationships with adults. Supportive relationships and positive learning experiences begin at home but can also be provided through a range of services with effectives early learning programs (e.g. home visiting, high-quality child care and early learning programs).
